Draft 3

This is an almost-complete version of our poster. We decided to tilt the title so that it represented the skewedness of the genre (us lampooning British urban flicks) and added another review comparing it to the American hit Superbad, thus giving us an instant audience from fans of that film.

Cutting out on Photoshop

We wanted to be able to add a certification to our poster- firstly because it would make it look more realistic, and secondly because it is a good indication of the target audience (teenagers).

Above is a screenshot of us going through that process- first we had to find a picture of the right certificate, and then crop out the background (as we're doing above). This involved holding the mouse steady and dragging around the edge, which we struggled with because it was difficult to get it neatly. However, we eventually managed and then were able to paste it onto the poster, like so.

Photoshop: Trials & Tribulations

I have been continuing trying to get acquainted with Photoshop so that I can use it to create the best poster possible. However, I have been struggling as I find the program to be complicated. The above photo is as far as I have managed to get so far- however, I intend to watch more tutorials on YouTube and learn more about how to add to it.

Problems I have faced are:

- Lack of available fonts
- Not knowing how to cut parts of pictures and paste them (e.g. a 15 certificate)

Photoshop

My group and I have been attempting to work out how to use Photoshop, as we are all new to the program. To get ourselves used to it, we used various tutorials on YouTube.

In the above picture, we are trying to make a final draft of our poster.

So far, we have edited the colouring of the picture so that it appears warmer and therefore gives the impression of being light hearted fare, and we are now testing different kinds of text. One idea we have had is to attempt to use 3D text on the final poster.

Poster: Second draft

Although I recently posted a first draft of our film poster, I decided to work on a second, improving things we felt were lacking in the first. These things included:

- The font being too simple- we felt it was boring and didn't accurately convey the light hearted tone of the film.

- The lack of a certificate or date for the film, making it look less realistic.

- The arrangement of the text on the bottom- we felt it didn't look professional and would be better central.

So, with these things in mind, we created this draft of the poster (still on the simple Paint tool, so again, the picture is not high quality).



We feel that this poster conveys the comedic tone of the film more accurately, and with the inclusion of the certificate gives a greater indication of who the film is aimed at. The font is far more suited to the genre- it is bouncy and youthful looking, and shows immediately that the subject matter of the film is not serious.

In order to get audience feedback regarding this draft of the poster, I have created a discussion board on our group's Facebook page to ask our peers their opinions on the poster.


As people reply and give their views, I will print screen them and add them to the blog.
